INTERVIEW WITH NAREN SHANKAR
Can you tell us about your initial years of piano learning?
Naren:My first year of music education started in Lyra. When I was 8 years old. First, I was very excited about the piano and thought it was easy. But only after a few years, I got to know that it wasn’t as easy as it looked.
Tell us briefly about your interests and hobbies.
Naren:My main hobby is to play piano. I don’t play piano for the sake of playing but use it as a stress buster. I also like to read books.
You are a very successful and upcoming young pianist at Lyra. Tell us about your feeling of winning a place in the recent ABRSM High Scorers’ Concert 2019.
Naren:I feel very happy to be part of this great concert: ABRSM, High scorers’ concert. I worked hard to get here and I have finally got it.
Tell us about your practice schedule, and how you manage it with the academic homework from school.
Naren:As soon as I return from school, I finish all my homework and only then practise the piano. I practise for an hour on weekdays and 2 hours on weekends.
Did you set any goals in music for future, and if so what are they?
Naren:When I grow up I would like to become a pianist. I would also like to become a great composer and conductor.
